Faced with losing everything, one woman decides to risk it all to save what little she has left.
Caroline Brown’s worst fears are coming true. Her father is injured and out of work, her mother is ill, and if the family doesn’t come up with money soon, they will be cast out of their home. Just when Caroline thinks things can’t get any worse, her beloved mother passes away in her sleep.
Distraught and desperate, Caroline turns to the only resource she has left her hand. After picking up a mail-order bride periodical named Matrimonial Times, Caroline begins to correspond with a gentleman named Eric Morgan. After a short period of exchanging letters, Eric invites Caroline to move to Texas and become his new wife. He promises he can provide for both her and her father’s needs, for he is very wealthy and successful. Although she is nervous and uncertain this is the right thing to do, Caroline accepts Eric’s offer, hoping this marriage is the answer to her family’s woes.
When she arrives in Texas, she is thrilled to find that Eric is just who she thought he would be. His charm, kindness, and good looks thrill her, and she can’t believe she has gotten so lucky. But when two mysterious men shadow the newlyweds’ door one day, Caroline will come to find that not everything is as perfect as it seems.

I enjoyed most of the book, just a little taken back by how quickly the bride refused to listen to her husband, especially since she'd fallen for the guy. I enjoyed the way reading the book made me feel like I could see the scenes the author was describing.
